Kayla Gentry, RN

Kayla has been amazing since the moment my daughter was admitted. We were admitted after 10 hours in the ER when my daughter was only 19 days old. As a mom, I was stressed, scared, tired, and overwhelmed on top of still recovering from my daughter’s birth. Kayla made the entire situation bearable. She took the time to explain each blood draw and test. She would answer or find the answer to every question I forgot to ask a physician or popped into my head in a moment of panic. Kayla showed true empathy, not only to my daughter but also to me. It may seem small but she kept filling my ice water and making sure we had anything we needed. I never felt like a burden thanks to Kayla’s bedside manner. She was always up to date on tests that were out and my daughter’s treatment plan. At a time filled with so much worry for me as a mom, Kayla eased what she could. I have no doubt she was doing this for every parent, child, and caregiver on the floor. She is an amazing nurse and I am thankful she was a part of our treatment team at Children’s.
