Thanks to Kayla Hiller, who identified that my mother (who was experiencing delirium) had a medical problem – suffering from restless legs. This condition caused some agitation and inability to sleep. Rather than giving more behavioral meds, she listened to my mother. She then collaborated with the pharmacist and MD to find the best option for treatment. This medication change (adding gabapentin) made a huge difference in my mom’s recovery from delirium, and she has not needed behavioral/psych meds upon return to rehab. Kudos to Kayla!
