My mother became a hospice patient in October. Kayla Huffman was assigned to be her home care nurse. Kayla visited weekly for routine visits and also made herself available as needed whenever a need arose and provided the information we needed for Mother's ongoing care. When it became necessary for Mother to have a hospital bed, Kayla made arrangements for the bed to be delivered and then was on hand to help move Mother to another room so her bed could be taken down and room made available for the hospital bed. There was no way I could have done this without help and Kayla's cheerful, willing attitude will always be remembered.
When mother began having end of life issues, again Kayla was on hand to do whatever was needed to see that Mother got the comfort care that she needed. When Mother was moved to Willson Hospice House Kayla made the necessary arrangements and guided me through the process. After it became evident that mother would not be well enough to return home, Kayla was right there with me as often as her schedule allowed to give me the comfort and support that I needed to get through that period. Mother passed away in March. During those five months, Kayla's professional knowledge and caring demeanor exceeded my expectations and made a very stressful situation more bearable. I have met several excellent nurses but Kayla Huffman's skills and abilities exceeded them all.

Thank you, Kayla, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
