Kayla Knox, BSN, RN
My strong and typically capable father had a hemorrhagic stroke in his basal ganglia. He was brought by EMTs to Parkview Noble, who quickly realized his situation required more specialized care and transferred him to Parkview Regional almost immediately.
We spent a few days in critical care, and then he was transferred to the ICU. We met Kayla quickly upon being transferred and were blown away by the level of care she gave our dad. She was not only polite and respectful but also very invested in his recovery. She pretty much became an honorary member of our family within the week we were here.
We had multiple nurses throughout this journey, but so far none have exceeded our expectations as she has. We were all grateful when we knew she was assigned as dad's nurse for the day, as we knew we didn't have to worry about how he was doing when we couldn't be with him.
There is absolutely no way to repay her for her thoughtfulness, kindness, empathy, and the acute level of care she gave to him as well as to us as a family. She has made all of the difference in this horrifying time, and we hope Parkview realizes what an amazing asset she is to them as well as to her patients.
If I could, I would nominate Kayla 100,000 times. This was only bearable because she helped us through an unnavigable nightmare, explaining what we didn't know and showing us such amazing grace.
Her compassion for a man who was a stranger only a week ago was inspiring and heartfelt, and we are forever in her debt for all of the amazing care she gave us in such a difficult time.
