Kayla Leonard 2023, RN

I was a post-op patient that came to the ED with post-operative pain. Kayla was my nurse. She explained everything that was going to be done to me. I got very emotional and started crying because I was in extreme pain. Kayla stopped what she was doing and tried to comfort me. She put her hand on my back and let me know that she was there for me, and then I started venting my frustrations and the pain I was feeling. She stood in my room and listened. She said, “I am here for you anytime you want to talk.” Although I was in a lot of pain, it was soothing to hear that and to have her there by my side. As a medical professional myself, I can tell that Kayla genuinely cares about people and her patients. Healthcare professionals don’t get enough recognition; however, I want Kayla to be recognized. I appreciate you Kayla, all that you are and all that you do. We need more nurses like you. Thanks a ton!
