My 90 year old mother broke her ankle and was at Beaumont for 23 days. Our family was with our mother practically around the clock, so we saw our share of nurses. Mom was scared, confused and dependent on her nurses. Kayla was mom's nurse for three days in a row. Kayla had an easygoing yet caring manner about her and took the time to make a connection with my mother and our family. Kayla is so very competent though gentle and reassuring. She took the time to explain helpful information and spoke to us in a manner that let us know we mattered. My family is truly grateful for the level of care she was able to administer to my mom. Even when my mom was transferred off Kayla's unit, Kayla came up during her lunch hour to sit and hold my mother's hand, assuring her everything would be all right.
