Kayla has been a blessing to our facility! To narrow it down to one occurrence does not do her work justice. I have seen numerous times she has come to call in the booking area to deal with both medical and mental health issues. I have witnessed her spending time with distraught detainees assisting them in their time of need, going above and beyond as I have seen in the past 17+ years in working here. This makes the lives of our staff so much better when they know their medical needs are a priority. Kayla has worked with detainees in pain by teaching them stretches to alleviate nerve pain; I have heard her explaining medications to detainees, so they understand what to expect, and calming them when the prescriber doesn't give them what they think they need. Kayla also has medical knowledge and knows what to look for when a detainee is malingering in an attempt to just get out of custody. This helps keep the facility running as smoothly as we hope we can. Kayla is an outstanding asset to all of us here.
