Kayla went above and beyond her duties when it came to the stillborn birth of my son. When I say I could not have done this without her, I truly mean it from holding my hand to watching TV with me, Kayla did not let me feel like I was alone at all. She did everything she could to keep me calm and comfortable. Constantly checked on me, helped my mother explain everything to my 6-year-old, made me the most beautiful memory book, and even came to check on me once I was moved to a different area. Kayla truly made my experience so much easier. Not once did I ever feel like I was bothering her and she made sure that I knew she was right there with me. I really do believe that she was meant to be my nurse and that we were meant to cross paths. I'm truly thankful for her and everything she did for me and my family we could not have asked for a better nurse and I know any patient that crosses her path will feel the same way. Kayla deserves this award not only because she meets all of the criteria, but also because of all of the things that she has to offer her patients that aren't considered part of her duties when you have Kayla as a nurse, you will have a friend there! Someone who cares and is not afraid to go the extra mile. Someone who will advocate for you, cry with you, hug you tight, and just be there in the moment with you. I could go on for hours, maybe even days about Kayla because she truly made that huge of an impact on me and my family. We will never forget her and everything she did for us. She will forever be in our hearts and we pray that St. Mary's Hospital understands how lucky they are to have her on their staff. There truly is no one that is more deserving of this award.
