I was extremely thankful Kayla was my nurse during our time in the Emergency Room at SSM ST. Mary's Hospital. We were on a camping trip during Labor Day weekend when I began to feel excruciation pain in my back and abdomen. It took us 30 minutes to get to the nearest hospital and my discomfort was only intensifying. Kayla took me back to a room immediately and was very sympathetic with the condition I was in. Because of past experiences, I hate needles. Kayla was upfront and honest from the get-go about what she was doing while she put the IV in. While previous nurses have had trouble with this task, Kayla successfully accomplished drawing blood and putting the IV in with no complications. She was excellent at continuing to check in on us throughout the day (without being overbearing) and also alleviating any recurring pain throughout my time there. On top of doing her job efficiently, Kayla was also very friendly and affable. Although I wouldn't say I was in the best mood when I got there, she kept the conversations light-hearted and made me feel better. When we left, I felt confident that she had provided us with all of the information we needed regarding medication and follow-up treatment. Even with this being an unfortunate situation, especially during my vacation, my overall experience was incredible thanks to Kayla.
