Tonight, we had a patient who was on hard times, drugs, no job, no support from any family, and Kayla was his nurse. Fortunately, she had time to talk to him and get his story. He was basically homeless and was thrilled to take a shower, and was going to see if some friends would bring him some clean clothes. Kayla called her husband, and he and her son went and got him some clothes, socks, and a shaving kit. He was elated for the help. Kayla did not tell anyone she was doing this; the patient told the charge nurse. Kayla is not one to take praise and recognition. She hasn't been here long, but has already had such a great attitude and great patient care.
