My experience with Kayla is from both sides of the spectrum. I work with her at the hospital when she is helping cover med/surg and she is always willing to jump in to help and has the patient's best interest in mind. Recently, my husband and I were blessed with our first child. We came into the hospital at 6:45 pm, right at shift change. Kayla had just worked a 12-hour shift, saw us and called the "on-call" OB nurse and stated she wanted to stay. She had taught the prenatal classes we went to as well, so the familiarity was extremely comforting as I went through the birthing experience for the first time. She was calming, comforting, a good coach, supportive, and I could tell that she truly cared. She also enjoyed making the moment memorable through an inside joke from our class. Kayla made the process much less scary and daunting than I felt coming in, just knowing that she willingly worked an extra half shift to help us and be a part of the experience meant a great deal. She helped keep us calm as there were some abnormal issues with baby's heart rate and afterbirth which is scary as a parent as well. Kayla was wonderful!
