Kayla held my dad’s hand and talked to him during his final earthly minutes.
My dad was in a terrible car accident and spent some time in 4400 ICU. Unfortunately, he passed away unexpectedly. Kayla was working that night and although she was not assigned as my dad’s nurse she went above and beyond to assist. My dad was a paramedic, and I am certain that although his death was unexpected, he knew exactly what was happening as he recognized the symptoms of a pulmonary embolism. Kayla held my dad’s hand and talked to him during his final earthly minutes. My dad was able to leave very specific messages for both my mom and me. When I arrived at the hospital my dad had already passed away, however, Kayla sought me out to share those messages with me.
As sad as I am that I wasn’t there with him I know that is how he would have wanted it and I would have picked someone exactly like Kayla to stand in my place. Thank you for sharing his final words with me and for giving us a little bit of peace in a devastating situation. We will forever be grateful. Although I hate the circumstances, I am thankful that our paths crossed, or I would have always wondered if my dad was okay in the end. Keep doing the good work. You are an angel in disguise.
