Kayla was the triage nurse that night when ER called with a pregnant lady for a labor check. Kayla went down and got the mom and wheeled her up, only to find out that she was ready to push out the baby. Kayla kept the mom extremely calm and informed, as she was unable to get an epidural. The OB MD on call had not arrived yet and Kayla helped deliver a healthy baby girl. While the newborn was being assessed at the warmer, Kayla informed the patient that the placenta will be delivered when the OB MD arrived. The patient was still in remarkable pain. Kayla notice what looked to be the placenta delivering, however, it was another baby coming out breech. She immediately called for more help, never leaving the patient’s side, talking her through it all, and keeping her calm. Kayla delivered the surprise twin, again before the OB MD got there! Kayla was amazing! She delivered the surprise twins and provided the safest and most informative environment for this patient, her husband, and now her twin daughters! The twins are healthy, happy, and beautiful! Mom was so grateful. Kayla always provides the safest and most compassionate care to her patients. She has wonderful nursing skills!
