I have been receiving IVIG infusions at UnityPoint for over 2 years due to treating my underlying auto-immune disease and the resulting Interstitial Lung Disease and esophageal dysmotility. The entire nursing staff in the Infusion Clinic has been incredible during that time period. However, Nurse Kayla clearly distinguishes herself from her peers. Nurse Kayla has been my nurse over the past 3 monthly infusions. She has been a compassionate listener as my health has been in great flux with the final work-up for a lung transplant and a positive COVID test result. She is one of the most proactive nurses to get my infusion started by taking my labs (blood samples), administering my pre-meds, and getting the infusion started in an efficient manner. Nurse Kayla is not only kind to her patients, but she is clearly an exemplary teammate as she works well will her peers and CNAs. She demonstrates the initiative to anticipate her patient's needs. Without a doubt, Nurse Kayla should be recognized for the professional and natural empathy that she exhibits for each of her patients.
