At the Infusion Center where my husband is a patient bi-weekly, Kayla is one of the nurses. Though we have only been assigned to Kayla twice, we have observed her every 2 weeks since March of 2024. First off, she always cheerfully exclaims, Good morning, Mr. M! No matter what she’s doing, she takes a minute to greet us and she makes my hubby feel special. We observe that she always smiles at each of her assigned patients; a feeling that each is her priority, and each is! If any of the nurses has an issue inserting PIC LINES or with any other issue, she takes the time to assist, but never at the expense of her assigned patients. This is not an exaggeration, but there is NOT a more welcoming, warm, and attentive nurse on the unit. This is saying a lot because this is one hard-working unit! Traveling to Duke every other Tuesday since March is a chore, but with a nurse like Kayla at the center, we’ll be just fine!
