Kaylan Durham was an angel. When my dad passed she showed so much compassion. She has a heart that is gold - she definitely found her calling. I could not have asked for a more compassionate, sweet, fantastic nurse. She even thanked me! No, I thank her. She's the best. Some people don't understand how hard a time like that is, and she was so understanding. She had a special touch, even though my father couldn't speak she would talk to him and treat him like he was responsive. She had such kind words for my father and my family.
Kaylan would make sure he was totally comfortable adjusting and replacing everything without being asked to make sure he was totally comfortable. She would make sure we were ok with her doing what needed to be done. I wanted to help, and she totally allowed me to, to make me feel more comfortable and ok with what was happening. She spoke on a personal level to make sure she sympathized with us and I appreciate the way she bathed him before and after. She was so respectful of us and him.
Even after my daddy passed, Kaylan came in because she was the nurse who got him ready to go to the funeral home. She had such a poise about her. As she bathed him, and I cut his hair, she thanked me for letting her be able to be a part of my daddy's passing. That touched a special spot in my heart, someone cleaning up a person who passed and she thanked me. I could not have asked for a more respect for my daddy. Kaylan would come because I and my sister stayed with him for the last three days and ask how he was doing even if she wasn't there that day on the chart. She made it a personal matter to make sure we felt totally at ease, or as much as could be.
My father passed away in September. After all that time, Kaylan remembered me, and she also remembered my daddy's room that he passed away in. That was awesome, and she made me feel like my daddy was special to her like he was special to me.
