There have been several very good nurses in the last twenty days, but Kaylee's kindness brought me to tears for going so far beyond what was required.
Kaylee went out of her way to make my wife comfortable. This was the 20th day of my wife’s ICU stay after a car accident nearly took her life. Kaylee took every opportunity to do the extra things that greatly improved my wife’s quality of care. She, at one point, was called away to care for a new admit with burns, then returned to my wife and stood for an hour straight just to wash my wife’s hair a few strands at a time. She was so gentle that my wife fell asleep while she painstakingly washed little bits at a time. She finished and was so quiet that she was able to clean up and leave the room without my wife waking up. She also picked up on my wife’s anxiety triggers being loud or fast speaking from others, so she posted a friendly reminder that speaking softly and slowly would help. There have been several very good nurses in the last twenty days, but this nurse’s kindness brought me to tears for going so far beyond what was required.
