Kayli Erickson, MMC

We had a teen girl come into the ER who was scared and confused. She was going through some things that she didn't know how to navigate on her own, and had some fears. I tried my best to calm her nerves, but I realized she needed to speak with one of our nurses. It was a no-brainer when I saw Kayli Erickson sitting at the nurses' station. I gave Kayli a brief rundown and asked if she would be willing to talk to the girl. Kayli didn't hesitate. Even though our ER was busy, and she could have said no, she stopped what she was doing and made herself available. She spoke to this girl with kindness and compassion. When the girl began crying, Kayli comforted her. She took the time to listen to her and help ease her mind. She didn't have to do this. She could have sent someone else. She could have addressed the girl differently. She could have simply not made time for this girl. Instead, Kayli went the extra mile to care for somebody. It warmed my heart to see what I saw today. Knowing we have a nurse like Kayli working in our ER is wonderful.
