My daughter was a patient for four days and we had the pleasure of having Kaylie Waters as our nurse for 2 of the days that we were there. She not only did wonderfully keeping me, as a mother, informed with my daughter's care, she did everything possible to make my daughter as comfortable as can be. She always entered our room with a smile and sometimes seeing Kaylie was the only thing that made my daughter smile.
Kaylie started her a courage card and with everything that my daughter did, whether it be to take her medications or even just show a smile, Kaylie would get down to eye level with her and help her pick out stickers to put them on her card. The second day she was working, we were trying to get my daughter off IV fluids; this was proving to be hard because she wasn't taking in any fluids on her own. Leave it to Kaylie to go get a tea set and set up a tea party for herself, my daughter and all her stuffed animals. They drank Pedialyte out of medicine "teacups" and had goldfish crackers on little tea plates. She spent at least 30 minutes of her time just trying to get her to have a little fun and take some fluids by mouth. Kaylie always made it a point to make sure we had everything that we needed and/or wanted, and for this, we are sincerely grateful to her!
