I would like to recognize Kaylin on behalf of a patient seen in and known to the ED. This patient is chronically homeless and frequents the ED for various medical issues. One day in February, Kaylin became excited to see this patient register to be seen in the ED. The reason for Kaylin’s excitement was that she had been holding onto a pair of shoes that she had purchased specifically to give to this patient.

Kaylin explained to me that she had cared for this patient on many occasions and frequently assessed issues with his feet due to the poor quality and fitting of his shoes. Kaylin’s concern and compassion for her patients were truly exemplified today. Providing for another person’s basic needs whole-heartedly shows Kaylin is an extraordinary nurse through and through.
