Keisha just started working at Children's SR/TICU in March 2019. She has been a phenomenal hire; how lucky we (as a system!) are to have her caring for our patients and families. She truly is a role model not only in her clinical skills but her interactions with staff (always smiling!) and caring attitude to our patients/families.
We had a patient who Keisha cared for with her mind, body, and soul. Keisha wrote a very eloquent letter to advocate for this patient's family to receive grant money as reimbursement for bedside meals, gas, and parking. Without breaking confidentiality, this patient was difficult to care for physically and at times emotionally because of the nature of the disease process and because of the patient's mother. The mother could be very controlling and would tell us, at times, how to do our jobs-even how to place the diaper. Keisha just smiled throughout and allowed the mother to have a little bit of control that she could in this situation.
