Kelci is one of the most considerate, compassionate nurses. Orthopedic patients in intense pain can be challenging at times, but Kelci is always exceptionally caring to her patients. Recently, we had a patient worried about recovery. Kelci listened with a kind heart and caring touch, bent down to the patient's eye level, and offered a caring hand squeeze and encouraging words. Kelci provided comprehensive care for this patient: helped her get a warm shower, collaborated with the PA on pain medication, and addressed family. The patient thanked her saying "she knew she was a handful," but Kelci's presence offered a sense of calm and encouragement. Kelci reminds me why I became a nurse: to be a compassionate, caring person who is positively impacting lives. Kelci does this every day.
***
Kelci's "super human" trait is her caring, warm, and open personality no matter how busy or pressured she may be. Every time I needed something, whether additional pain medication or assistance using the restroom, she was always "Jenny on the spot" and made me feel like I was her most important patient. She listened to my needs and my stories with interest and never made me feel like I was a bother. She is kind, compassionate, and a wonderful person as well as an amazing nurse. I attribute my rapid recovery to her positive attitude and encouragement.
