"An 11 y/o patient was hospitalized in the PICU for two weeks due to complications from a previous organ transplant. Upon arrival the patient was very friendly and chatty with staff, but shortly after became more withdrawn from staff due to increased pain and declining status.

Kelli was the lead RN for various shifts throughout this patient's stay and took frequent opportunities to help make this little girl's stay more comfortable.

One evening Kelli brought nail polish to paint the patients nails, and the patient enlisted Kelli's assistance to try and paint her dad's nails once he fell asleep, which although unsuccessful, the patient found hilarious.

Kelli was often joking with the patient and "gossiping" about teenage things. As the patient became sicker, Kelli was often in her room to rub her back and comfort her. Kelli and the patient formed a special bond, and the patient was visibly happier when Kelli was around.

... Kelli helped make her stay as positive as possible and helped to bring some joy to this little girl's final days.

Thank you, Kelli, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
