All I can say is that my mother was placed in the right hospital, the right ICU room, and with the absolutely the right nurse. Kelli came on her ICU evening shift, [and] from the moment she walked into the room she provided my mother was the best professional and compassionate care possible. Not only did she inform the family of all the medical care but did so with humor and compassion. Kelli was like a ray of sunshine every time she walked into the room in a very sad situation. My mother had been sick for the last four years with multiple diseases. We knew one morning hospice was a possibility and that the end for much-longed peace would be near. Kelli not only took respectful care of my mom but she would ask the family if we needed anything. I needed Nurse Kelli to care for my mother and herself but she wasn't having it. She made us laugh several times along with her honestly which was much appreciated.
Death is never easy but as we explain my mother's passing, just know that Nurse Kelli is also included for her exceptional care. We know my mother's passing was peaceful, beautiful, full of laughter, tears, and sadness but it was perfect to give peace to the family. Kelli's shift was ending but she made sure to come in and give us all a hug. She told us she would stay around until we left. In my mother's final hour we were able to talk. Talk like she hasn't the last four years. My mother waved hi and said, "Hi friend". Her friend was a close beloved family friend who passed away a few months earlier. I asked my mom, "Do you see your friend?" She said, "yes". I said, "He must be waving for you." Still more things were said but my mother finally said she was ready to go. "Go where?" we asked. She said, "Heaven." Then my mother was at peace. When we left the room I did not see Kelli sitting in the nurse's station. Otherwise, I would have given her another hug. Please give Nurse Kelli a big hug from me. Her exceptional care meant the world to our family in a painful and heartfelt time. Kelli, thank you for all you do for your patients and especially my mother. Hugs and Love Nurse Kelli!
