I feel she has a genuine connection to her patients. She recognized that I was in distress and took immediate action.
Kelli is a wonderful nurse. She was instrumental in saving my life. I feel she has a genuine connection to her patients. She recognized that I was in distress and took immediate action. Throughout my stay, she was always attentive, not just to my physical state, but my mental state as well. She was very informative and encouraging. She has a zest for learning more. She is an all-around wonderful human being. I feel some people get into nursing because it's a good job. And then there are those that have a passion for it. Kelli definitely has a passion for nursing, it shows; she goes the extra mile.
Kelli was also recognized by a family in great pain after the sudden loss of their dad as a result of a fall. She was recognized for playing a lead role, with multiple others, in providing comfort and compassion to them:
The son of our patient who had a life-ending fall on a Friday night asked on Sunday, after his father died, for someone from Administration to call him. He shared that he and his brother are policemen in the Indianapolis area. His wife is a nurse. He also served as an EMT and wanted me to know he has been in and out of lots of hospitals, both on the job and with his mom and dad. He shared that without one hiccup, he and his family were blown away by the care they received. He shared this was a terrible, tragic accident, and in the midst of the worst experience in his entire life, he witnessed an extraordinary care team. He said the team appropriately handed out hugs and they felt the family's pain. They met the family exactly where they were and gave what they needed exactly when they needed it. He even shared that the PCU staff collected their own money to send flowers to his mom, who was a patient on PCU throughout this. He mentioned Kelli Roush by name as having a significant role in providing comfort and support to him and his family. He went on to explain that his parents had recently celebrated their 50th anniversary on the Madam Carroll and they are planning to have the celebration of his father's life in the near future and would love to have representatives of his care team attend. He said Kelli offered to be the contact for this. Kelli attended the memorial service, as did Charles Self, who officiated. Kelli and Charles were mentioned in this specific recognition, but we know it was an entire team of IU Health Arnett Healers who, together, provided this family and each other with care and compassion amongst this tragic accident. To all involved, thank you.
