Kelli offered to fix and clean the baby up (trying to hide all the lines, tubes, and wires) and get a wonderful picture of the baby for mom to keep in her room.
We had a mom come in and unexpectedly deliver a baby at 31 weeks. The baby was not doing the greatest and was admitted to the NICU. The parents were very distraught, as one would expect, having an intubated baby. Mom could not go over to visit the baby until 8 hours later, due to being C-sectioned. We took her over for her first visit and met with Kelli. Mom came back over to her unit about an hour later, and she was beaming. I asked her how it went, and she couldn't stop saying how amazing the nursing staff was...especially Kelli. She said Kelli offered to fix and clean the baby up (trying to hide all the lines, tubes, and wires) and get a wonderful picture of the baby for mom to keep in her room. This is above and beyond. This shows the amazing compassion and kindness one nurse had that made a patient's day. She moved me deeply, as a fellow RN, and she is such a role model!
