Kelly Bell, RN

I want to start the nomination off by saying I've been in healthcare for 20 years, 16 years, I have been an RN. In my career, I have had several DAISY nominations and have been awarded one. I have several nursing awards in my career including excellence in service, nurse of the year, and community service. I am a nurse who loves and cares for her patients with all that is in me. I am a friend of S who was admitted thinking she was going to go home the next day. After testing we found out that S's cancer had metastasized. S has no family here. So this is where I feel Kelly needs to be recognized. S looked for Kelly and asked about where she was every day. S started to show signs of anxiety and she knew Kelly was the nurse that was going to advocate for her. Kelly not only advocated for S, but she also tailored her care to S. She empowered S to make decisions for her care. She knew S was a Christian and included that while caring for her. She knew S's family wasn't here so per S's request she updated friends and family. She explained everything she did. She encouraged S and motivated her. This Award would mean so much to encourage this nurse and give her hope. I want this award to be a reminder to keep being her. I am impressed; she made me proud to be a nurse.
