I received terrible news from my doctor that the pregnancy that my husband and I had been trying for was an ectopic pregnancy. When I came to the hospital, I was mixed with all sorts of emotions. In one of the most painful and heartbreaking moments of my life, Kelli was the person who helped me feel safe, cared for, and seen. From the moment she walked me into my room, she treated me with such compassion and calm that I felt like I could finally take a deep breath and process everything. She explained every step of what was happening, the different labs that needed to be drawn, and the results that should be expected, then the treatment for an ectopic pregnancy. Her kindness went beyond clinical care; she reassured me that what I was feeling was valid and made sure I had enough support. Even when she had other patients, she checked on me regularly and always made sure that I was comfortable, both physically and emotionally. Losing a pregnancy is something no one can prepare for, but having Kelli there made all the difference. Her compassion helped me begin to heal, not just physically but emotionally. She represents everything that nursing stands for: knowledge, empathy, and unwavering dedication to her patients. For these reasons and so many more, I am nominating Kelli Booth for the DAISY Award. Her care transformed one of the hardest experiences of my life into one where I felt genuinely supported and cared for. I will never forget her kindness.
