Kelly was nominated by a patient’s daughter. She wrote about Kelly, noting that her nomination is linked to the qualities of Role Model, Enthusiasm, Made a Difference, Collaboration, Care, and Compassion:
“This letter is in recognition of an exemplary nurse on your staff, Kelly Flocco, RN. On a Sunday evening last May my mother, was rushed to Methodist Hospital with signs of a stroke. My family and I stayed by her side as the Methodist team did a series of tests to determine a diagnosis. After having what appeared to be a seizure, my mother was moved to a different floor.
“It was there that we were greeted with a warm smile and a gentle touch. Kelly introduced herself and after minutes, requested further medical attention for my mother. She immediately called the physician and the two worked as a team to find the answers to explain my mother’s condition and plan her treatment. Nurse Kelly stayed by our side, spoke for us when we needed clarification, and supported us when we needed reassurance.
“Kelly treated my mother as if she were her own. She was very kind.”
