Kelly George, RN 6200
Kelly is a new graduate nurse but her advocacy for her patients, especially Ms.R, resonates “expert” in advocacy. Kelly cared for Ms. R. when she was suffering from extreme pain in her legs for which they had not yet determined a cause. She spoke with the physicians on several occasions and involved our CNS for pain management to try to help with Ms. R’s pain control. Kelly wouldn’t give up. She pursued answers relentlessly, advocating for further testing, seeking opinions from management and also involving patient relations. Over the course of a few days Kelly had also served as an educator for Ms. R on smoking cessation aides and diabetes control assistance. Kelly’s persistence assisted in the discovery of the cause of Ms. R’s pain which in turn resulted in emergent surgery.
Kelly exemplified nursing. She was an advocate, a teacher, and a compassionate bedside caregiver. She is to be commended for being an “Extraordinary Nurse.”
Additional nomination
Kelly fought for me while I was in severe pain. She challenged the system to get me the pain medicine and the help that I needed. She put her job on the line because I needed help and was suffering.
