I had surgery replacing my stent which is done every 8 months. My nurse was Kelly Dawson at Valley hospital. During recovery, I had to go to the bathroom. I have a weak bladder and Kelly got me a bedpan. After I finished she helped me up to get out of bed and go to the bathroom. To which I proceeded to have an accident on the floor. I was embarrassed and mortified.
Kelly calmed me down and help me to the bathroom and then went back to clean the floor. While in the bathroom I tried to wash up and opened the IV port and had blood spurt all over. I rang for Kelly and she took my bleeding wrist and quickly rinsed off all the blood. She cleaned me up and bandaged my wrist and then cleaned up all the blood from the floor so I wouldn't slip. Reassuring me that it was okay. She got me dressed and made me laugh. She was so kind and helpful. This was above and beyond what a nurse does. I was so lucky to have Kelly there to help me. This could have been a very depressing experience so Kelly got me through it all with kindness and reassurance. I shall never forget what she did. My hats off to Kelly Dawson. And thank you from the bottom of my heart. May all patients get the kindnesses from a nurse like Kelly. Good luck and God bless you, Kelly.
