I felt blessed, loved, and cared for by someone so clearly knowledgeable and benevolent, willing to go beyond her normal duties to make the quality of care for one patient seem like her only concern.
I brought my brother in Christ to Holy Cross with a variety of physical and cognitive issues. After hours of testing, he was admitted and wheeled into a room on the Orthopedic floor.
A few days later, nurse Kelly was on duty. She was so very kind and thorough in explaining to us some of his diagnoses, actions to take, the categories of outpatient physicians he would need to see, and the documents we would need so that I could continue to help him without being his kinsman. She also explained where he would be going for rehabilitation and even helped him get on the stretcher that took him there.
Her completely spontaneous thoughtfulness, compassion, and recognition that we didn’t know how to navigate this unfamiliar situation were so unexpected and welcome. She treated us like family. He and I are forever grateful to Kelly for demystifying what to do next and providing much-needed education and guidance. She is a great asset to Holy Cross. I would want everyone I love or care about, including myself, to be in Nurse Kelly’s care.
