I am honored to nominate Kelly for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. From my first day, she has been a constant source of encouragement, inspiring me to pursue my Master of Nursing degree, obtain certification and pursue the rank of Instructor of Nursing. Under her guidance, I have grown not only as a professional but as a leader capable of making impactful decisions.
Kelly models integrity, open communication, and ethical behavior, fostering an environment where respect, accountability, transparency, and trust thrive. She offers open and genuine support and is always available for questions, one-on-one mentoring, and guidance.
She demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills, encourages critical thinking among the team and supports team members in taking initiative. She is a true change agent, always looking for innovative ways to improve our work and utilize resources more effectively.
Kelly is a steadfast advocate for the team, upholding the principles of fairness and proper delegation and ensuring responsibilities remain with the appropriate team members. She is deeply committed to making sure that the team's needs and concerns are heard, spending significant time with frontline staff to understand their challenges and insights, and advocating for changes that support both the team and the organization’s goals.
Recently, during a personal challenge that affected my mental health and ability to perform at work, Kelly approached the situation with remarkable empathy and understanding. Rather than expressing frustration or focusing on job expectations, she provided gentle guidance, unwavering encouragement, and flexibility by offering an adjusted schedule for appointments and allowing remote work when the office environment became overwhelming.
Through her compassionate leadership, Kelly not only helped me through a difficult period but also cultivated a culture of trust, sensitivity, and inclusivity. Her actions embody a leader who leads with compassion, empathy, and humanity, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
