Kelly is a true patient advocate and once again proved this when she worked diligently with the DCFS and Carle management to try to find placement for a 14-year-old male with autism, aggression, and was non-verbal. This patient was kept in our ED for over a week with no progress to placement. Kelly would not stop until a plan was made. She made multiple phone calls to agencies and the administration to advocate for him. His options were very limited and it took a great deal of work to get the issue resolved. She offered to buy a new tablet if he broke the one we had. The TV had been removed from his room early in his stay as he was aggressive with hitting the TV and the walls. There was nothing for him to do. We could not communicate much with him due to his mental abilities and being nonverbal. She contacted the mother multiple times with updates and to inquire about what activities he liked to do as it was very difficult to keep him occupied. Kelly showed great compassion towards him and kept him at the front of everyone's attention. I have witnessed her devotion to patient rights many times. She truly has a servant's heart and is always willing to take the more difficult patients. Carle should be proud to have an exceptional nurse like Kelly caring for their patients.

Thank you, Kelly L, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
