Kelly often shows up to work with freshly baked cupcakes and a huge smile on her face.
I cannot summon the words to justify to the immense impact that Kelly has made. She was born a nurse. A nurse for her patients, a nurse for her coworkers and unit. When you’re sick, all you want is to be home. To feel safe, warm, and to be with your loved ones. You can’t necessarily obtain this when you are stuck in the hospital, but whenever I take a patient from Kelly, they always let me know how cared for, comfortable, and secure Kelly made them feel. During the sickest times of peoples’ lives, she steps in and transforms their assigned room into a home. Kelly instills this feeling not only into her patients but into her unit/coworkers. She often shows up to work with freshly baked cupcakes and a huge smile on her face. She greets every nurse with kindness and compassion. As a brand new nurse on the unit, she was the first to help me feel comfortable and accepted. Kelly has a soothing voice and a strong soul which makes you immediately feel at ease in her presence. She has an established grace and flow that is evident through her body language as well as the rhythm and tone of her speech. She is the ballerina of the nursing field. Kelly is one of those magical humans that I cannot believe exists. The unit would be completely lost without her. Thank you, Kelly, for helping to make Illinois Masonic a home.
