The one thing that accurately describes Kelly when she first started as a nurse is "sunshine". With her unique ponytail bouncing around the floor and her bright smile, everyone who worked with her could sense her good nature and felt her infectious positive attitude. She was the reason that we ended all huddles with a "Hands in!", in an attempt to amp everyone's energy and start the day on a positive note. She is selfless and caring for her patients and she really looks out for her co-workers. Almost every coworker knows that she helps them when they are very busy.
When one of the nurses was very busy, Kelly asked the nurse, "How can I help?". These beautiful four words lighten the burden. She reviewed all MD orders for the OR, helped comfort the family, ordered antibiotics from the pharmacy, and started PIV. The patient made it to the OR and the only reason this was possible because Kelly took the time. This is not a unique story for the nurse, no one in the unit would be surprised to hear this about Kelly. It is her selfless quality that she demonstrates every day that makes her so special.
