As soon as we met Kelly her warmth and compassion shined through to us during a very dark time. She took the time to get to know my son N, me and my daughter. She made us feel welcome, made us feel calm, even for a moment during tidal waves of fear. I can remember both N and I being so scared and overwhelmed that even at night when we tried to sleep we just couldn't. On nights Kelly was with us she made us feel secure, taken care of, safe, and cared about. I was finally, even for a few hours able to sleep, get answers to my questions, and feel secure that at that moment in time we were in safe hands.
Kelly is a skilled chemotherapy nurse, she is always prepared, on time, knowledgeable, and courteous. IV beepers rarely beeped, doors were shut and smiles were always provided. We had many other loving and special nurses during our stay at UCLA, but Kelly stood out to and for us every time we had her. She made N smile, laugh, hope, and feel like the most special person in the whole world when Kelly took care of him; she made him feel like a strong young man who could conquer whatever came his way. This is something nearly impossible to do when you are in the hospital as much as N was over the year. She also took care of us as a family, a hug for me as I was so overwhelmed, a question or a look of 'I know you can do this', a smile and truly asking my daughter how she was doing as she is sitting by her brother's side.
All of this and so much more can never express our thanks, love and gratitude for this beautiful person who touched our lives and most importantly our hearts! Thank you Kelly not just for what you do, but for how truly amazing you are!
