Kelly remained calm and continued to try to verbally de-escalate.
We had an incident at Harris Clinic. A patient on 2nd floor pulled the fire alarm, ran from her caregiver, and made it up to the 3rd floor pulling that alarm as well. This alarmed the entire building to evacuate. Kelly had gone to the lobby area to help evacuate patients. She saw the disturbed patient proceeding to pull down the TV, reporting she was going to self-harm. Kelly attempted to verbally de-escalate the patient and the patient became more agitated and grabbed Kelly by the hair. Kelly remained calm and continued to try to verbally de-escalate. Kelly showed so many qualities in this moment and truly put the patient's needs before her own.

Note: This is Kelly's 2nd DAISY Award!
