But what got me most was she had taken my mother's wedding bands, cleaned them, shined them, and put them back on.
This honoree was recognized by the daughter of a patient who passed away in the Emergency Department. The daughter wrote:
"The nurse came into the room and told us that she would like to clean my mother up. When the nurse was done, she came to the waiting room to get us. She cleaned my mother up beautifully. My mother looked at peace. But what got me most was she had taken my mother's wedding bands, cleaned them, shined them, and put them back on. I don't believe they shined like that since my father put them on her hand 67 years ago. Thank you is not enough for that. You don't learn that in nursing school. That came from the heart. Thank you so much."
