Kelly is always an incredible nurse, however recently she was a shining star. Our unit had a period of several days we were lower on staff support than usual. She displayed the highest standard of commitment to Veteran care and excellence in her respect and communication. She provided timely and respectful treatment to our SARRTP Veterans, and at the time the unit was at full capacity. At the same time, she provided outstanding care and support to our outpatient Veterans. Within the STAR program, she completed a nursing education group that multiple Veterans discussed with me for days, they found the information helpful and imperative to their recovery. She cares for our Veterans the way she cares for her family and loved ones. Her bedside manner is unparalleled and I feel she embodies the demeanor all nurses should strive for. I feel proud and grateful that I am able to work alongside her every day. The several days I described above, I feel Kelly was the reason we were able to provide the exemplary care that we did, to the point that no one would have believed we had fewer staff than usual, as excellence in care was not impacted at all. I truly feel Kelly is an Extraordinary Nurse whom the Wilkes Barre VAMC is better for having.
