I wanted to take a few moments to recognize Kelly, the dayshift nurse that I had when I delivered my son. Kelly from the start gave my husband and me a sense of peace as soon as she did the bedside shift report. I am also a nurse working at St. Anthony's, and the way Kelly ensured to explain every detail of our plan for the day including trying different labor positions and what my OBGYN'S plan was, exceeded every nurse I have met to this day after years of being one. She was there for my husband and me during the most exciting and scariest moments of our lives. Kelly ensured me that she would make sure nothing would happen to my son or myself, and saying she did that is an understatement. She went above and beyond the entire day for us, even when the contractions became unbearable and I needed an epidural. Kelly held my hand and helped me relax during the entire procedure, and her words of courage are the only reason why my son is here today.

I have never met someone who is so willing to go out of her way for their patients, and that is why I wanted to nominate Kelly for The DAISY Award. Not only did Kelly help during my epidural, but when it came time to labor, she was one of the biggest motivators that I had and looked up to. She ensured that I was explained everything that was happening, while also helping my husband through the process as well. I was starting to push near shift change, and I begged Kelly to please stay by our sides because I couldn't think of anyone else I would have wanted there in those moments. Kelly helped deliver my son safely and helped both of us through a traumatic experience after, and she stayed well after her end of shift to ensure we were both safe and healthy.

Again, I have never witnessed a nurse let alone another human express such dedication and compassion to their patients in my entire healthcare experience. I will always look up to her as a fellow nurse. Words can not express enough how grateful I am that on that day Kelly was our nurse. She changed the entire course of my delivery for the better and I cannot personally thank her enough from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for having such a wonderful care team the day that we got admitted for our delivery.
