Kelly is one of the main charge nurses for PACU central and she takes that role seriously. She is a very positive role model and a great leader who leads by example. She follows MHS's TRUSTED colleague guidelines naturally. She is always coming to the bedside to make sure everything is going well with the patient as well as the nurse. If anyone needs assistance, she will always help. Then she takes the opportunity to teach and help you become a better nurse. Her many years of experience shows in her calm manner and skillful recovery of patients. Plus, as charge, she manages to get all the charge nurse duties completed and still be available for the nurses on staff that day.
Recently, I was taking care of a patient who ended up needing a neosynephrine drip to maintain blood pressure. Kelly seemed to sense something was going on and came to the bedside to make sure everything was set up correctly and that I knew how to titrate the drip correctly. That day, I knew I could count on Kelly to help and I knew the information she gave me would be correct. Then, I knew she wouldn't go telling our coworkers how I needed help. That is trust on every level.
