Kelly consistently demonstrates servant leadership skills without effort. She is not only thoughtful of others, she is professional, reliable. empathetic, and committed to helping her classmates and faculty. She has repeatedly received feedback from Preceptors of how "in touch" she is with patients and that they "easily trust" her. During the time of Dr. Latanja Divens' tenure as the Family NP Program Coordinator, Kelly met Dr. Divens before and after each class to assist her with any mobility needs or materials needed to prepare for class. She was not asked to do this. She generously served. Other examples of her selfless service are during community engagement activities NP faculty and students participate in. She is usually the first to volunteer, the first to show up on the day of service, and the last to leave. The leaders of the professional organizations she served reported that "without her ability to jump in and help, we would have been so behind in getting bags prepared and attendees registered. She is a naturally kind leader." Kelly effortlessly demonstrates not only the core values of our School of Nursing, but also the core values for our profession of nursing. She is a rare find and carries the Spirit of this award.
