The pain in my abdomen was the least of my concerns, as the thought of going through surgery brought back memories of the last time that I saw my mother before her exploratory surgery in 2015. From the moment that she greeted me with a huge smile behind her mask and her positive attitude about every little aspect of the preparation, she set me at ease. She did absolutely everything perfectly. She provided detailed and easy-to-understand answers to all of my questions, picked up on my nervousness, and completely set my mind at ease. She kept the conversation going while doing her work and left me completely comfortable going into my procedure. When her work was done, and she departed to attend to other patients, I thought that if all of the medical staff was this professional, compassionate, and attentive, then I was in for a great experience.
