As I was in the back of the ambulance, Kelsey hopped in with me! She just happened to be in the parking lot at Walmart at the same time we were with all of this happening! It truly felt like a miracle that she was there and we had all hands there to get my baby stable.
When I was 13 weeks pregnant, I came into L&D for a second opinion on the bleeding that I was having because my current OB office was not providing any answers. Kelsey was my nurse that day and made sure to cover all bases with what I had been experiencing and that I understood what my options were as far as possibly switching OB care. Kelsey took down my information to have the doctor's office call to set up my appointment and establish care with her after my triage discharge. The rest of my pregnancy I felt so grateful for that experience because it led me to the best OB care that I could’ve had.
At 35 weeks pregnant I came back into L&D triage because I believed I was in labor, Kelsey was my nurse again and made sure to still be an advocate for me and to provide the best care I could receive, even with the chaos that was going on in the L&D triage department that morning. I ended up being admitted in pre-term labor, and Kelsey made sure to come back before she left for the end of her shift to check in on me and wish me good luck on delivery.
When my baby was six days old, I was in a Walmart parking lot, and she was choking on acid reflux and having episodes of holding her breath/going out of it. I called 911, and the ambulance responded. As I was in the back of the ambulance, Kelsey hopped in with me! She just happened to be in the parking lot at Walmart at the same time we were with all of this happening! It truly felt like a miracle that she was there and we had all hands there to get my baby stable. Kelsey even came to check on us when admitted to the pediatric department at the hospital after that episode to check to see how everything was.
I will never forget her or the impact that she has made on me or my child’s life. It is so evident in the way that she cares for patients that this is more than just a job for her.
