The most frightening event of my life occurred when my daughter fell ill in June. Each moment of the first week was an eternity, but thankfully, through God’s grace, she was transferred to Washington Regional. I could write essays on the exceptional professionals who helped heal her body. Their knowledge and determination were the difference in our beautiful daughter’s life and her future. Among these outstanding medical personnel was her nurse, Kelsey. She understood my daughter in a way that can only happen when one is so dedicated and tuned to the needs of her patient. From big things like taking her day off to research an issue with the plasmapheresis machine and the viscosity of my daughter’s plasma, to noticing that she preferred apple juice with her breakfast and made sure to provide it. She was determined to do all she could to ensure our daughter’s recovery. She explained things to our daughter, who, as an engineer, likes to understand how things work and what to expect. She encouraged her in all her physical and occupational therapy and was always close by if another professional needed help or questions answered. Washington Regional and so many people there will always hold a spot in our hearts. And this nurse will be part of our hearts for her kindness, her care, and dedication to our daughter.
