Kelsey Hood is an angel, we believe, who led our brother to the Lord as she was holding his hand as he took his last breath on a Sunday morning in April. As tears were falling from her eyes, our brother was at peace from this world.
Toward the end of each day, we prayed for one more day to receive the Lord into his heart. After much scoffing to us, we left our brother toward the evening to return in the morning, or if he took his last breath to be notified to return to the hospital. We received the call shortly after 10am. A half hour drive found us next to Kelsey and our brother as peaceful as we could have hoped. He had taken his last breath at 10:06am with Kelsey next to him at peace too. Thank you Kelsey.
Recognition is not meant to be prideful but as an example of how our Dear Lord would have us treat each other when others are not around. Dear Lord, thank you for your example by giving the ultimate sacrifice too.

Kelsey contacted me this morning to let me know the patient had been placed on comfort care and was actively dying. She asked if I could come and pray for him. She said his family had already said their goodbyes yesterday and he was alone. When I arrived at his room Kelsey was seated next to his bed holding his hand. I thought she was family. She had tears in her eyes. Her kindness and caring were evident. She simply did not want him to die alone. Her care and affection for this patient was truly remarkable! Wow!
