Kelsey recently increased her FTE because of a new role she has taken on in addition to her busy care management role. Within our organization, Kelsey single-handedly took on mom/baby hospital follow-up calls for all primary care providers. She sought out best practices for maternal mental health screening and affected policy and procedure and continues to support the standardization of care between St. Peter's Primary Care Providers. Kelsey supports her complex care teammates with great knowledge and experience with peripartum patients.
Outside of our organization, Kelsey is a leader in building community support for moms and babies, building networks, and creating awareness for maternal mental health. Kelsey is an active part of the Montana Coalition for Maternal Mental Health, through Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies.
Kelsey leaves her drama at the door when she comes to work and is the consummate professional. I've observed her work with difficult patients and situations with incredible patience and objectivity, even when treated poorly or disrespected. I have never heard Kelsey breathe a negative word or judgment about anyone, whether patient, provider, or team member. Kelsey's work crosses the street, as she communicates well with her old coworkers on the OB unit and Partners in Pediatrics to support patients with challenging situations.
Kelsey also openly shares her own story and how it continues to inform her work with maternal mental health. As I write this, Kelsey is sharing her story as a presenter at the 2nd Annual Perinatal Mental Health Conference in Butte, because she understands that her story can help empower others and help to normalize conditions commonly hidden away out of shame, embarrassment, or stigma.
As if this weren't enough, Kelsey is a great care manager, providing support for primary care patients transitioning from the hospital, ER, or managing chronic diseases. She is creative and thoughtful in her support of her providers, patients, and coworkers. She will always stop what she's doing and listen, even when it obvious she is very busy.
When you get your healthcare with a St. Peter's Health primary care provider, you don't get to choose your care manager, but those who get Kelsey as their care manager are very lucky. I appreciate all she does at the office, providing a consistent and competent presence. I am proud of the work she does in the community as a face of St. Peter's Health. St. Peter's is incredibly fortunate to have Kelsey and she is an individual who continues to bring St. Peter's toward the Gold Standard of Healthcare in Montana.
