When I was admitted last night my pain level was between 8 and 9. I was sobbing and in excruciate pain, causing me not only to sob uncontrollably, I also wasn't thinking straight because the pain was controlling me. The doctor didn't want to give me anything, so I suffered for hours and made Kelsey suffer too. I got very upset and mean with her and accused her of not caring and judging me and all the while she remained calm and kind no matter how angry I got. She offered alternative methods to get me by. Kelsey was the perfect balance of empathy and professional.
She answered all my questions and took the time to seek out answers she didn't know. She was my advocate with the doctor and after multiple phone calls to him, she succeeded in getting pain medicine and took away my pain with a smile on her face. I apologize profusely for my behavior, but she said there was nothing to forgive because pain can do terrible things to people, it wasn't my fault. She eased my fears, calmed me down, got my pain bearable and all with loving positive demeanor. They say there are over 7 billion people on earth and to not let one ruin your day, and in my case she was the 1 in 7 billion that made my night.
