My boyfriend was involved in an ATV/UTV accident and was a patient for over a week, when he gained his angel wings. He had many wonderful nurses and doctors while at North Memorial but in picking one to nominate for this award Kelsey Paris is beyond deserving. She made our family feel so welcome always answered all of our questions in a way that we could understand and treated us and my boyfriend with the utmost loving care. We were so happy when Kelsey was our nurse, I describe her to people that I know as an angel on earth. The way she cared for not only him but made sure we were taken care of was amazing.

As a family, we made the very hard decision to move him to comfort care after there was a decline and he was not improving. That night Kelsey gave me the greatest gift. She saw me crying next to his bed holding his hand and came into the room and asked if I wanted to lay with him in the bed. She was extremely careful to move his cords over and situate everything so that I could spend a few hours laying with him. It was the nicest thing I think anyone has ever done for me.

The next day his ventilator was removed and we as a family sat in the room with him for a little over 9 hours before he passed. Throughout this entire time, she made sure to provide him with the best comfort care making sure he was not in pain and was so timely with everything. The way she treated him with such dignity and made sure that he was not in pain was so comforting to all of us. She will never be forgotten, and I will always mention the name Kelsey Paris when I talk about the people that had such an impact on my life.
